Janelle Taylor

Candidate for Council

I have been a proud member of QNMU/ANMF for 45 years, with over 40 years of active and committed involvement in my local branch. In 2016, I had the privilege of working as a Project Officer at QNMU for five months, playing an integral role in the successful, statewide rollout of the nurse-patient ratio legislation.

I was an expert witness in AIRC cases and a panel member for the Forster Review, served a number of terms on council and have 30 years of leadership experience as a NUM. I bring a wealth of organisational knowledge and expertise to this role. I am deeply committed to encouraging union membership, promoting activism, and passionately advocating for nurses’ rights in the workplace.

I have worked as a RN at The Prince Charles Hospital since 1988. And whilst undertaking a Critical Care course in Melbourne experienced the Irene Bolger-led Victorian nurses' strike.

I am resolute in my support of the professional interests of nurses, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality patient care, and fostering a healthy, supportive working environment.

Our QNMU Members United Team has a track record of success, a plan to keep nursing and midwifery strong, and we're asking for your vote.

Support for Janelle

“I have had the pleasure of working under Janelle for 5 years now. She first employed me as a pretty novice nurse. As Nurse Unit Manager, her leadership responsibilities go beyond the realm of networking, clinical expertise, critical thinking, and effective communication. Janelle is responsible for a much wider range of tasks, including strategic planning, resource allocation, time management, quality assurance, and interpersonal communication with employees.

Those who work with her are lucky enough to experience a well supported work environment, a collaborative mentor who aids her employees in creating effective nursing processes, actively engaging in quality improvement activities taking place as well as striving for a work life balance and so many other things.

I personally have been lucky enough to receive incredible mentorship from Janelle. Her advice and insights have been instrumental in my personal and career growth.

Janelle is not only passionate about nursing, but leading through nurses. She is an active QNMU member and has been for many years, where she has aided in promoting better nursing working conditions, which I am fortunate to wreak the benefits of, as nurse today.”
