Jennifer Wilson
Candidate for Council
My current role is CNC in Safety and Quality at the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service. Throughout my 31 years’ experience I have worked across general medical, infection control, education, palliative care and cancer care. I hold a Bachelor of Nursing, Graduate Certificate in Quality Improvement and Masters in Adult Education.
I am a workplace delegate, workplace representative, NMCF committee member and Chair of the Sunshine Coast University Hospital Branch. I have supported members through grievances and participated in resolution of standdown / standby on public holidays, and inclusion of 100% RN rec leave backfill in BPFs.
In 2023 I received the Emma Miller Union Activist Award and have been the recipient of the QNMU Anna Stewart scholarship. This opportunity provided me with an understanding of the workings within the QNMU office and other unions.
I have a strong interest in advocating for Positive Practice Standards and addressing the challenges facing the current and future nursing and midwifery workforce. This includes excessive workloads, complexity of care, reduced staffing and the threat of occupational violence.
Our QNMU Members United Team has a track record of success, a plan to keep nursing and midwifery strong, and we’re asking for your vote.
