Karen Cooke
Candidate for Council
As a current member of Council and an active member of the union, I am passionate about continuing my representation of Rural Nurses and Midwives.
I have worked as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years and have been an active member of the union for as many years. I enjoy being a voice for rural nursing and believe that it is important to have a balance from all areas of nursing on Council.
I moved to Nanango Rural Hospital over 20 years ago and developed two new union branches for the South Burnett region. I have participated in many campaigns over the years as I believe that every Nurse and Midwife deserves to be able to go to work and be properly renumerated for their work, that they should be safe at work and their voices heard.
Also, as an active QNMU member I have been on the Industrial and Professional Policy Committee. I regularly attend union training to keep abreast of issues and encourage other members to attend training.
Our QNMU Members United Team has a track record of success, a plan to keep nursing and midwifery strong, and we're asking for your vote.
