Yanna Klaassen

Candidate for Council

I grew up rural Queensland and always wanted to work in health, following in my mother’s footprints. I’ve been a nurse and midwife for coming up to 14 years.

I’ve worked across the spectrum of nursing paediatrics including, oncology, birthing unit, Midwifery Group Practice, neonatal unit and private practice midwifery. I’ve worked in multiple Australian states, and overseas in Peru and Kenya. I’ve also dabbled in nursing in the Australian Army, giving me a different perspective of healthcare.

I love advocating for the health of my community which includes advocating for the health and wellbeing of our colleagues, and speaking up about our working conditions. This is why I’ve taken an active role in the union movement.

Together we can make a difference. Our QNMU Members United Team has a track record of success, a plan to keep nursing and midwifery strong, and we're asking for your vote.
